Trek Itinerary

Your Yunam Peak Expedition begins in Manali, where all participants assemble for the expedition. Meet your trek leaders and fellow climbers before undergoing a detailed gear and equipment check to ensure everyone is well-prepared for the high-altitude climb. The expedition team conducts a comprehensive briefing covering the itinerary, safety protocols, acclimatization strategy, and summit plan. Final documentation, medical fitness verification, and distribution of common expedition equipment are completed. The remainder of the day is kept free, allowing participants to rest and acclimatize before ascending to higher altitudes.

After an early breakfast, begin the scenic drive from Manali to Bharatpur via the iconic Atal Tunnel and the Leh–Manali Highway. The journey passes through the stark and dramatic landscapes of the Lahaul Valley before reaching Bharatpur, situated at an altitude of approximately 4,700 meters near Baralacha La. Upon arrival, set up the campsite and spend the remainder of the day acclimatizing to the high altitude. Enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding Trans-Himalayan mountains before dinner and an overnight stay in camps.

Acclimatization is one of the most important aspects of any high-altitude expedition. Today is dedicated to helping your body adapt to the thin mountain air through a short acclimatization hike around Bharatpur. Your expedition leaders will also conduct technical sessions on pacing, hydration, use of equipment, and safety procedures for the summit attempt. Spend the afternoon resting, staying well-hydrated, and preparing both physically and mentally for the challenging days ahead. Overnight stay at Bharatpur campsite.

Today marks the beginning of the expedition phase. Carry essential expedition supplies and camping equipment towards the Summit Camp, gradually ascending over rocky terrain and glacial moraines. This load ferry helps establish the higher camp while also aiding acclimatization. After depositing the equipment at the designated campsite, descend back to Bharatpur for the night. This climb-high, sleep-low strategy significantly improves acclimatization and increases the chances of a successful summit.

After breakfast, leave Bharatpur and make your way back to the Summit Camp with your remaining personal gear. The gradual ascent offers magnificent views of the surrounding peaks and the rugged Trans-Himalayan landscape. Upon reaching Summit Camp at approximately 5,400 meters, settle into your tents and make final preparations for the summit push. The evening is spent resting, hydrating, and preparing for an early morning alpine start. Overnight stay at Summit Camp.

The most anticipated day of the expedition begins well before sunrise. Equipped with headlamps, begin the summit ascent under the guidance of experienced expedition leaders. The climb involves negotiating scree slopes, rocky ridges, and snow-covered sections before reaching the summit of Yunam Peak (6,111 meters). From the top, witness breathtaking panoramic views of the Zanskar, Ladakh, and Great Himalayan ranges—a reward for your perseverance and determination. After spending time at the summit for photographs and celebration, carefully descend back to Summit Camp for a well-deserved rest and overnight stay.

After breakfast, dismantle the campsite and descend from Summit Camp to Bharatpur, retracing your steps through the spectacular Trans-Himalayan terrain. Upon reaching Bharatpur, board your vehicle for the return drive to Manali via the Leh–Manali Highway. As the expedition concludes, carry home unforgettable memories of summiting one of India’s most iconic 6,000-meter peaks, breathtaking mountain landscapes, and an extraordinary high-altitude adventure that will stay with you for a lifetime.
