Trek Itinerary

Today you will arrive at Srinagar and embark on a 110 km drive to reach the basecamp of the Trek, Aru, a beautiful village near Pahalgam. Stay over night in a Tent/Guesthouse at Aru Village.

Today your trekking journey will start and you will trek for approximately 10 km to reach Lidderwat. You will be trekking through Pine Forests, Meadows and along the Lidder River. After trekking for 5-6 hours, you will reach Lidderwat, a scenic campsite with Breathtaking views. Overnight Camping at Lidderwat.

After your breakfast, embark on an approximately 6 km trek towards Shekwas. Today you will trek through Alpine Meadows and Streams, passing beautiful wildflower patches. After trekking for 4-5 hours, you will reach the quiet and serene campsite of Shekwas. Overnight Camping at Shekwas.

Today you will be Trekking for 5 km to reach the first lake of the trek, Tarsar Lake. The ascent will be gradual, passing through lush green valleys and boulder patches. Reach the Tarsar Lake, a stunning Glacial Lake surrounded by mountains. Overnight Camping near Tarsar Lake.

After your breakfast, embark on an approximately 6 km trek to Sundersar Lake, a beautiful and peaceful campsite. On your way you will be crossing the majestic Tarsar Pass, which offers panoramic views of the valley. Descend towards Sundersar Lake, a beautiful and peaceful campsite. Overnight Camping at Sundersar.

Today you will be visiting the second lake, Marsar Lake. Do a short hike to Marsar Lake, which is often covered in mist. Today’s total trekking distance would be approximately 9 km. Spend some time enjoying the Serene Beauty before descending down to Homwas. Overnight Camping at Homwas.

This day marks the bittersweet ending of your Trekking Adventure. Trek down to Aru village for about 9 km and then embark on a 110 km drive back to Srinagar. Reaching Srinagar marks the end of your Trek.

    Safety Guidelines

    1. Acclimatize Properly

    • The trek reaches 13,500 ft, so allow your body to adjust to the altitude.
    • Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol or smoking.

    2. Dress in Layers

    • Wear thermals, fleece, and a windproof jacket to stay warm.
    • Carry waterproof gloves, socks, and a poncho/rain cover in case of unexpected weather changes.

    3. Follow Trek Leader’s Instructions

    • Always listen to your trek leader and guides.
    • Stick with the group and avoid taking unknown shortcuts.

    4. Be Cautious on Snow & Ice (If any)

    • Walk carefully on snow-covered trails to avoid slipping.
    • Use microspikes and gaiters (provided by the organizer) for better grip.

    5. Carry Essential Medications

    • Keep a personal first-aid kit with medicines for altitude sickness, fever, cold, and pain relief.
    • Inform your trek leader about any medical conditions beforehand.

    6. Stay Hydrated & Eat Well

    • Drink at least 2-3 liters of water daily to prevent altitude sickness.
    • Eat nutritious meals to maintain energy levels.

    7. Be Mindful of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness)

    • Symptoms: Headache, nausea, dizziness, breathlessness
    • If you feel uneasy, inform your trek leader immediately.

    8. Pack Smart & Travel Light

    • Carry only essentials; avoid overloading your backpack.
    • A 40-50L backpack with a rain cover is ideal.

    9. Respect the Environment

    • Do not litter; carry your waste back to base.
    • Follow the Leave No Trace principle.

    10. Emergency Preparedness

    • The team carries a medical kit and oxygen cylinder for emergencies.
    • In case of extreme conditions, descent is the best option for safety.

    The Tarsar Marsar Trek is a mesmerizing alpine lake trek in Kashmir, taking you through breathtaking meadows, traditional Kashmiri villages, and to the pristine twin lakes – Tarsar and Marsar – nestled amidst snow-capped peaks.

    The trek is rated as easy to moderate, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced trekkers. The trails are not technically challenging but do involve daily walks of 5–7 hours.

    The trek usually takes 7 days, including travel from Srinagar and back. The Dream Treks offers a well-paced itinerary with acclimatization and exploration days.

    The highest altitude reached on this trek is around 13,200 feet (4,023 meters) near the Marsar Lake viewpoint.

    The ideal time is from July to September, when the Kashmir valley is in full bloom and the lakes are accessible, crystal clear, and surrounded by green meadows.

    During the trek, you’ll stay in triple-sharing tents with sleeping bags and mats.

    The trek starts from Aru village, about 3 hours from Srinagar. Srinagar is well-connected by flights, buses, and trains (to Jammu). We can assist with transport from Srinagar to the base.

    Our package includes all meals during the trek, camping equipment, accommodation, permits, guides and trek leaders, and transport from Srinagar to Aru and back.

    Please note that AC will not be operational during travel in hilly regions. If you require AC in these areas, you may coordinate directly with the driver. Additional charges may apply.

    Booking Policy

    ✅ Advance Payment:

    • A minimum 30% advance payment is required to confirm your booking.
    • Full payment must be made before the trek starts.

    ✅ Confirmation:

    • Once the payment is received, you will get a confirmation email with trek details.
    • Trek permits and other arrangements will be processed only after full payment.

    ✅ Rescheduling:

    • Rescheduling is allowed only once and must be requested at least 7 days before the trek start date.
    • A rescheduling fee may apply.

    Cancellation Policy

    ✅ Cancellation by the Trekker:

    • 30+ days before the trek: 90% refund of the total amount.
    • 15-30 days before the trek: 50% refund of the total amount.
    • Less than 15 days before the trek: No refund.
    • NO refund will be issued for any booking amount that is less than ₹500.

    ✅ Cancellation by The Dream Treks:

    • In case of unforeseen circumstances (bad weather, natural disasters, government restrictions, etc.), The Dream Treks reserves the right to cancel or modify the trek.

    ✅ No Refunds for Unused Services:

    • No refunds will be given for any inclusion not availed by the trekker (meals, transport, stays, etc.).

    ✅ Dropout During Trek:

    • If a participant chooses to leave the trek due to personal reasons, no refund will be provided.
    • Any additional cost due to evacuation or exit will be borne by the participant.
