Trek Itinerary

Your Pickup will be from Rishikesh, around 8 AM in the morning. From there your Journey will start and you will embark on a 250 km scenic drive to reach Lohajung Basecamp. Your arrival will be followed by Dinner and a detailed briefing about your trek from our Experienced and Certified Trek Leaders. Rest well and Prepare for your Trek. Overnight Stay at Guesthouse.

Have an early morning breakfast and embark on a 10 km trek towards Didna Village. Pass through dense forests which offer beautiful views of the surrounding peaks. Enjoy the scenic trek and reach Didna Village for the night. Overnight stay at Guesthouse in Didna Village.

Today would be the day when you will be witnessing the Largest Alpine Meadow in Asia, Ali Bugyal. After your breakfast, embark on an approximately 7 km trek to Ali Bugyal. The trek will take you through Rhododendron Forests, with occassional clearings offering glimpses of the valleys below. Reach Ali Bugyal and enjoy the panoramic views. Overnight stay in Tents.

After an early morning breakfast, you start an approximately 7 km trek to Patar Nachauni, which would be your campsite for the night. Today you will be passing through Bedni Bugyal, yet another alpine meadow, which is at an altitude of 11,004 ft. Explore the surroundings and enjoy the panoramic views. Overnight Camping at Patar Nachauni.

After an early morning breakfast, you start an approximately 7 km trek to Patar Nachauni, which would be your campsite for the night. Today you will be passing through Bedni Bugyal, yet another alpine meadow, which is at an altitude of 11,004 ft. Explore the surroundings and enjoy the panoramic views. Overnight Camping at Patar Nachauni.

Today you will be trekking for 10 km to reach Bhagwabasa from Patar Nachauni. The Trail involves a Gradual Ascent, and you will notice a change in the landscape as your climb higher. Bhagwabasa is a High Altitude Campsite, situated near the Roopkund Lake. Overnight Camping at Bhagwabasa.

Today is a Big Day as you will be visiting the Main Highlight of the Trek, The Roopkund Lake. This High Altitude Alpine Lake is Famous for the Skeletal Remains visible at it’s bottom. Today you will be Trekking for approximately 10 km. After spending sometime at the Mysterious Lake, Trek back to Patar Nachauni. Overnight Camping at Patar Nachauni.

Today would be your last trekking day. After your breakfast trek down through dense forests for 10 km to reach Wan Village. Wan is the last village on the trek route and offers a glimpse into the Local Culture & Lifestyle. From there you will drive for 14 km to reach back Lohajung Basecamp. Overnight stay at Guesthouse in Lohajung.

This day marks the bittersweet ending of your Trekking Adventure. After your breakfast, embark on a 250 km drive back to Rishikesh. Drop at Rishikesh by evening.

Essential Trek Gear

  • Thermals (top & bottom) for insulation
  • Fleece jacket & down jacket for warmth
  • Waterproof & windproof jacket (essential for high-altitude weather)
  • Trek pants (2-3 pairs, quick-dry)
  • Woolen gloves & waterproof gloves
  • Woolen cap & neck gaiter for protection against cold winds

  • Trekking shoes (waterproof with good ankle support)
  • Extra pairs of woolen & synthetic socks

✅ Accessories:

  • Sunglasses (UV-protected, anti-glare for snow reflection)
  • Headlamp with extra batteries
  • Trekking pole (highly recommended for steep climbs)
  • Poncho/rain cover for self and backpack

  • Sunscreen (SPF 50+), lip balm & moisturizer
  • Basic toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, biodegradable soap, toilet paper, wet wipes)
  • Personal medications & first-aid kit

✅ Backpack:

  • 40-50L backpack with rain cover
  • Small daypack (optional, for summit day)

✅ Other Essentials:

  • Water bottles (2L capacity) or hydration pack
  • Energy bars, dry fruits, and snacks
  • Camera (optional but worth it for the stunning views 📷)

Tip: Since Roopkund is a high-altitude trek, carrying the right gear is crucial for a safe and comfortable journey!

Safety Guidelines

1. Acclimatize Properly

  • Roopkund is at 16,499 ft, so proper acclimatization is crucial.
  • Follow the climb high, sleep low rule to prevent altitude sickness.

2. Dress in Layers

  • Wear thermals, fleece, and a windproof jacket for insulation.
  • Carry waterproof gloves, socks, and a poncho/rain cover in case of unexpected weather changes.

3. Follow Trek Leader’s Instructions

  • Listen carefully to your trek leader’s guidance at all times.
  • Stick with the group and avoid taking unknown shortcuts.

4. Be Cautious on Snow & Rocky Terrain

  • Some sections, like Bhagwabasa to Roopkund, are steep and rocky—walk cautiously.
  • Use microspikes and trekking poles for better grip on slippery paths.

5. Carry Personal Medications & First Aid

  • Keep a personal first-aid kit with medicines for altitude sickness, fever, cold, and pain relief.
  • Inform your trek leader about any pre-existing medical conditions.

6. Stay Hydrated & Eat Well

  • Drink at least 3-4 liters of water daily to prevent altitude sickness.
  • Eat high-energy snacks and meals to maintain stamina.

7. Be Mindful of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness)

  • Symptoms: Headache, nausea, dizziness, breathlessness.
  • If you feel unwell, descend immediately and inform your trek leader.

8. Pack Smart & Travel Light

  • Carry only essentials; avoid overloading your backpack.
  • A 40-50L backpack with a rain cover is ideal.

9. Respect the Environment

  • Do not litter; carry your waste back to base.
  • Follow the Leave No Trace principle.

10. Emergency Preparedness

  • Guides carry a basic medical kit for emergencies.
  • In case of severe weather or health issues, returning to base is the best option.

Trek Policies

Booking & Cancellation

✅ Advance Payment:

  • A minimum 30% advance payment is required to confirm your booking.
  • Full payment must be made before the trek starts.

✅ Confirmation:

  • Once the payment is received, you will get a confirmation email with trek details.
  • Trek permits and other arrangements will be processed only after full payment.

✅ Rescheduling:

  • Rescheduling is allowed only once and must be requested at least 7 days before the trek start date.
  • A rescheduling fee may apply.

Cancellation Policy

✅ Cancellation by the Trekker:

  • 30+ days before the trek: 90% refund of the total amount.
  • 15-30 days before the trek: 50% refund of the total amount.
  • Less than 15 days before the trek: No refund.

✅ Cancellation by The Dream Treks:

  • In case of unforeseen circumstances (bad weather, natural disasters, government restrictions, etc.), The Dream Treks reserves the right to cancel or modify the trek.
  • full refund or an alternative trek option will be provided.

✅ No Refunds for Unused Services:

  • No refunds will be given for any inclusion not availed by the trekker (meals, transport, stays, etc.).

✅ Dropout During Trek:

  • If a participant chooses to leave the trek due to personal reasons, no refund will be provided.
  • Any additional cost due to evacuation or exit will be borne by the participant.
