The Lekha Top Trek is typically a 4-day trek, starting from Dehradun and returning back after completing the trek via Jakhol village.
Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Jakhol village (approx 10 hrs).
Day 2: Trek from Jakhol to base camp (~4 km, ~6 hrs).
Day 3: Trek to Lekha Top and return to Jakhol (~8 km, ~4 hrs).
Day 4: Drive back to Dehradun with memories of the trek.
Lekha Top sits at approximately 2,800–3,000 meters above sea level, offering panoramic Himalayan views.
Yes — the trek is graded as easy to moderate, making it suitable for beginners who have basic fitness and some trekking experience.
Total trekking distance over the trek is around 12 km, spread across two walking days ensuring comfortable pacing and gradual ascent.
The trail goes through dense pine and maple forests, open meadows, and shepherd huts before reaching Lekha Top, where you can see panoramic views of mountain ranges, surrounding valleys, and traditional Himalayan settlements.
The ideal trekking seasons are spring (April–June) and autumn (September–November) when the weather is stable, landscapes are clear, and views are at their best.
Forest and trekking permits are required to enter the area around Jakhol and Lekha Top, and these are provided as part of your trek package.
The trek package generally includes accommodation in guesthouses or homestays at Jakhol and camps near base camp, plus meals (veg + egg) from dinner on Day 1 to lunch on Day 3.
The trek starts from Jakhol village in Uttarkashi district. You typically travel by road from Dehradun to Jakhol (approx 10 hours drive) — scenic and gradual, crossing Mussoorie, Purola, Mori and Netwar on the way.
